Your computer will calibrate itself to the test and give you an OK sign depressing your SPACE bar activates the test. Depressing the Spacebar is the only action needed in taking the test.

The Spacebar Is All You Use

The individual test you take will display a series of images for three seconds each image.  If you have seen an image within the current test, you press the Spacebar down before the three seconds elapses.

Individuals with physical impairments or less experience with computers may need the assistance of family members or friends that have online computers and experience in online transaction making. However, once acquainted with the online procedures taking the test unassisted is fun and stimulating to the brain. 

Because the testing center is available 24/7 through any Internet browser, individuals are free to establish their memory fitness baseline and use the test to exercise their short-term memory, even compete with others in a sporting fashion.

There is no pass or fail in taking this test, but everybody can be a winner. Just by taking the test a participant is exercising and stimulating their brain. This alone is one of the recommended ways to reduce your chances of developing Alzheimer's disease.

Research tells us that your short-term memory and learning capabilities should remain constant over most of your life having the potential to improve with exercise and stimulation. 

If Your Scores Are Lower Than Previously Recorded

It is the point in time where your mental fitness suffers a reduction in performance that causes concern. If you score lower on the test than previously recorded, something could be wrong and you should take the test again. If the results are consistently lower your brain and body may be trying to tell you something. 

In regards to Alzheimer's Disease, decrements to short-term memory and learning performance means Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) has begun to strangle the brain. Early detection of MCI is critical and can be of great value to the doctor's who develop treatment strategy as well as to the patient who can begin combating the disease while their brain and body is the strongest it will be in the disease process cycle. 

If the scores are lower than previous tests, and you return to find consistently lower scores, you should print out a copy of you baseline scores and present them to your doctor as soon as possible.
